Root Canals
Many teeth that are badly damaged by deep decay or trauma can be
saved with root canal therapy. The pulp, (nerve tissue), within
the canals of the root or roots of the tooth is cleaned out and
medicated. With the infection eliminated, the canals are then filled
and sealed to prevent re-introduction of infection. Not all teeth
can be saved with root canals. A heroic effort to save a weak, badly
broken tooth is not always a great idea, but when indicated, root
canal therapy to save a tooth is often more desirable and more cost
effective than an implant or bridge.
